Renewed ANWB Onderweg app

Design lead for the renewed ANWB Onderweg App.

With 1.2 million users, the ANWB Onderweg App is one of the key channels, through which ANWB guides their customers stress-free from A to B. I supported ANWB in translating their app strategy and transition to become the go-to all-in-one app for car drivers. I was responsible for UX strategy, designing solutions for the new user journeys and the research and validation, and hands-on UI design of the new redesigned app

In doing so, I also helped establish a Design System that allows ANWB to maintain a harmonized brand- and user experience across all apps.

Timeline

The project started with validation and UX-testing the app journey and technology partner. We build a 'proof of value' app for that purpose. After testing we applied the lessons learned and developed the MVP app, launched in summer '22. User feedback resulted in improvements.

On the new solid base we developed new features, either extending the new journey or integrating ANWB products and services.

During the translation of the new ANWB brand identity we created the App Design System. The new system was introduced and adopted by other ANWB (branded) apps.

ANWB Onderweg is awarded the Best App of the Year in the category Weather & Mobility. During the fourteenth edition of the Website of the Year Award Night, the prizes were awarded in Circa Amsterdam by Humberto Tan. The app already has over 1.1 million users.
